Democracy Index 2018: political participation and protest
 
The Economist Intelligence Unit released the 11th edition of Democracy Index, which provides a snapshot of the state of democracy worldwide for 165 independent states and two territories. The report reveals that the number of people who lived in some form of democracy decreased by 1.6 percentage points, from 49.3% in 2017 to 47.7% in 2018. However, political participation, particularly among women, is on the rise in almost every region of the world. Find out where your country ranks.
