On Today's Show

On GPS at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on CNN:

First, Fareed hosts a live panel on Venezuela's unfolding political crisis, as President Nicolas Maduro clings to power in the face of opposition leader Juan Guaido's recognition by the US and allies.

Eurasia Group President Ian Bremmer and governance and political economy Prof. Michael Penfold of the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración in Caracas will break down the latest developments.

Then, Fareed gives his take on the mood at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where geopolitical apprehensions and America's lack of world leadership were on display. "With no one actively shoring up the international system, the great question remains: In a world without leaders, will that system over time weaken and eventually crumble?" Fareed asks.

Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland will discuss standing up for human rights in an era of transactional diplomacy, and Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN messenger of peace, talks about her remarkable career and what humans might learn about themselves from her groundbreaking work with chimpanzees.
