With the advent of the metaverse, improvements will be needed in semiconductors and display technology, while fast, reliable connectivity will be vital.

What role can governments and regulators play in fostering solutions to these infrastructural challenges, and developing an open, vibrant and competitive metaverse ecosystem?

Mr Hung leads or has led several large-scale projects regarding semiconductor SoC (system on a chip), smart electronics, digital content, online entertainment surveys, new online service platforms, smart homes, industrial reforms and telematics.

Monica focuses on issues involving infrastructure, spectrum, accessibility, net neutrality, online communications and online video policy. 

Prior to joining Meta, she spent over a decade in senior positions at the Federal Communications Commission. 

Her roles included deputy chief of the Wireless Bureau, where she focused on spectrum issues and infrastructure deployment; chief of the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau, which develops all policies and rules in connection with accessibility and direct consumer-facing issues; and chief of the Media Bureau, which has oversight over broadcasters and cable companies; and more.
