Ready for 100

In 1990 there were 50 centenarians in Singapore. By 2015 that number had multiplied to 1,100, and continues to grow. As life expectancy rises, the ability to live long and well is increasingly linked to a number of lifestyle factors. Commissioned by Prudential Singapore, The Economist Intelligence Unit surveyed more than 1,200 Singaporean residents on their preparedness for longevity. How ready are they to live to 100?

On Fareed Zakaria GPS Today

Insights, analysis and must reads from CNN's Fareed Zakaria and the Global Public Square team, compiled by Global Briefing editor Jason Miks.

September 30, 2018

On Today's Show

On GPS at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on CNN:

First, Fareed gives his Take on President Trump's speech to the UN General Assembly and Trump's "America First" worldview.

"Trump might not recognize that as he withdraws America from these global arenas, the rest of the world is moving on without Washington. Wittingly or not, Donald Trump seems to be hastening the arrival of a post-American world," Fareed says.

Next: Speaking at the United Nations this week, President Trump warned that "Iran's leaders sow chaos, death and destruction. They do not respect their neighbors or borders or the sovereign rights of nations." Joining Fareed to discuss President Trump's comments and US policy toward Iran will be Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Also on the show: Earlier this week, at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum, Fareed had the chance to talk to eight world leaders and three business leaders. GPS shares some of the highlights, including Fareed's conversations with outgoing Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, Swiss President Alain Berset, New Zealand's prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

Plus: Fareed is also joined by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. What lessons can the world learn from his government's fight against Russian election meddling? What might Russia try to do in next year's presidential election? And what can his government do to prevent it? Fareed discusses this and more.
