Open: 6.36 Quotes as of 12/12/2017 8:44:01 AM ET BY THE NUMBERS U.S. stock futures were slightly higher this morning, after the Dow and S&P 500 both hit fresh record closes in yesterday's session. That was the Dow's 66th record close of the year and the S&P 500's 59th. The Nasdaq also saw gains, notching a four-day win streak. (CNBC) The new Cboe bitcoin futures, unveiled on Sunday, were trading this morning at nearly a $1,000 premium to the cash market on the January contract at about $17,780. On the first full day of trading Monday, the January bitcoin futures contract surged nearly 20 percent. (CNBC) •  Bitcoin is in serious danger of becoming very boring (CNBC) •  Bitcoin futures not taking away gold demand: Goldman Sachs (CNBC) The Federal Open Market Committee begins the first day of its two-day monetary policy meeting. The central bankers are expected to deliver a decision on interest rates at the end of the event. Market participants widely expect a rate hike. (CNBC) The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) survey came out at 6 a.m. ET. The producer price index (PPI) data is slated to come out at 8:30 a.m. ET and the Monthly Treasury Statement is due out at 2 p.m. ET. (CNBC)   IN THE NEWS TODAY Alabama voters were headed to the polls this morning in a hard-fought Senate race in which President Donald Trump has endorsed fellow GOP Roy Moore, whose campaign has been clouded by allegations of sexual misconduct toward teenagers. (The Hill) Following an attempted terror attack in New York City yesterday, which injured at least three people, President Trump pushed for immigration restrictions. Trump promoted his travel ban and calls on Congress to end so-called chain migration. (CNBC) •  Subway bomber wounds self, three victims in New York (Reuters) Special counsel Robert Mueller's investigators are reportedly asking White House officials to walk them through 18 days early in the Trump presidency in a sign that they are probing possible obstruction of justice by the president. (NBC News) •  Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand calls on Trump to resign over sexual misconduct accusations (CNBC) The Treasury Department released an analysis of the GOP tax plan that is only a page long. The analysis said that the plan would raise $1.8 trillion over the next decade. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin claimed that the department was working on a detailed analysis. (CNBC) •  U.S. Treasury tax study slammed as 'fake math' by Democrats (Reuters) Pending an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and assault, the NFL Network has suspended analysts Marshall Faulk, Heath Evans and Ike Taylor. The allegations were made by a former NFL Network employee. (NY Times) Southern California's wildfires, the fifth largest blaze in state history, persisted this morning and were threatening thousands of homes as it churned through coastal mountains amid persistently dangerous weather conditions. (AP) Young adults who use electronic cigarettes are more than four times as likely to begin using regular cigarettes as their nonvaping peers, a new study has found. The research came as e-cigs are being touted as a less harmful habit than tobacco cigarettes. (CNBC) E-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN) expanded its cloud footprint in China today in one of the fastest-growing but most competitive markets in the world. It partnered with Ningxia Western Cloud Data Technology Co (NWCD) to open its second Amazon Web Services. (CNBC) The chairman of the SEC has warned investors of the dangers of putting their money into cryptocurrencies. He said trading and public offerings in the emerging asset class may be in violation of federal securities law. (Reuters) STOCKS TO WATCH Comcast (CMCSA), the parent company of CNBC, is no longer reviewing a deal for 21st Century Fox (FOX) assets, according to The Wall Street Journal, leaving Disney (DIS) open to possibly finalize a deal. Apple (AAPL) has confirmed it had reached a deal to acquire Shazam, the popular app that lets people identify any song, TV and more. The news came as Spotify reportedly continues towards a public listing. GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK) says it has promising new data from a study of a possible treatment for people with multiple myeloma, a rare form of cancer. Boeing's (BA) board says the company's quarterly dividend will increase 20 percent to $1.71 per share. The board also replaced the existing share repurchase program with a new $18 billion authorization. WATERCOOLER Streaming giant Netflix (NFLX) released a report that pulls back the curtain on some of the not-so-secret habits of its more than 100 million subscribers. The report split results into four categories, ranking the top 10 show in each.
