On Fareed Zakaria GPS Today

December 1, 2018

On Today's Show

On GPS at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on CNN:

First, Fareed gives his Take on the G-20 summit in Buenos Aires that just wrapped up.

"As the world gets more chaotic, the forces that could provide order are being eroded," Fareed says. "China simply watches quietly and pockets the gains.

The conversation on the G-20 summit continues with today's live panel: Ian Bremmer, President of Eurasia Group, Richard Haass, President of the Council on Foreign Relations, and Anne-Marie Slaughter, President and CEO of New America. The panel will also discuss the situation in Ukraine and discuss other hotspots around the world.

Next: The legacy of the late President George H. W. Bush, who led the U.S. through the end of the Cold War and launched America's first war in Iraq. Fareed will hear from James Baker III, who served as Bush's secretary of state and chief of staff.

Also on the show: Morgan Stanley's Ruchir Sharma lays out the state of the global economy. Although the U.S. economy is booming, Sharma believes we may have reached "peak America."

Presidents Under Fire

Impeachment talk seems to have become more common in recent years. After Bill Clinton's impeachment, there have been cries to impeach George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and now Donald Trump.

Impeachment is a complex issue, with political, legal and historical dimensions. It's one of the most basic democratic safeguards enshrined in the Constitution, yet few people really understand it other than a few experts.

In Fareed's new CNN special report, he sits down with those experts to understand what impeachment is, how it works, and whether President Trump could or should be impeached.

Tune in tonight at 9 p.m. ET for the premiere of "Presidents Under Fire: The History of Impeachment" on CNN.
