White House Press Corps Rallies: Kaitlan Collins' ban from a White House event causes deserved outrage

A Deal ... to Make a Deal: President Trump says a deal to make a deal is on its way, but there's hope for saving the American soybean

What the White House is Talking About:
President Trump today travels to Iowa and Illinois for events. The two states are the nation's top producers of soybeans.

What the White House Press Corps is Talking About:
Soybeans having a moment.
And, more importantly, the banning of my friend and colleague, Kaitlan Collins, yesterday from an open-press event at the White House after she did her job earlier that day by asking questions inside the Oval Office. It is extremely common practice to do so, and it is expected. The treatment Kaitlan received was abominable. We are all encouraged for the rallying that has occurred in support of Kaitlan, especially by our fellow networks, Fox News included.
Related?:
The White House this morning made what's known as a bad weather call for the President's departure from the White House. That means, instead of walking out to Marine One on the South Lawn, where press typically gathers and can ask questions (which Trump sometimes answers), the President motorcaded to Joint Base Andrews for his departure to Iowa. When pressed, the White House cited fog -- but the cloud ceiling, which determines calls like these, appears fine -- the best it's been all week, actually. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A Deal ... To Make a Deal:

The President yesterday met with European Union leader Jean-Claude Juncker to talk about making a deal to get rid of tariffs. So, basically, the tariffs that Trump imposed hurt farmers, notably in Iowa and Illinois, because they were caught in the crosshairs of the ensuing trade war, so now Trump has released $12 billion in aid for the soybean farmers who were affected by his own decision on trade. You follow me, right? Here's what Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska said yesterday about the plan: "They've been taking the legs out from under America's farmers and ranchers. What the administration is offering them instead is $12 billion in gold-plated crutches."

Trump thought the meeting with Juncker went really well.

White House Puts Off Putin:
After the much-ballyhooed announcement that Russia President Vladimir Putin would be coming to the White House this fall for a meeting, yesterday that plan changed. Now, the White House is saying the Putin visit will not happen at all this year"The President believes that the next bilateral meeting with President Putin should take place after the Russia witch hunt is over, so we've agreed that it will be after the first of the year," said John Bolton.

Trump Gets His Star Back:
Some guy destroyed it with a pickax the other day. He was arrested. But now the President's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been painstakingly reinstalled -- again.

Someone Just Unmoored Betsy DeVos' Yacht:
I don't know why, but this story reminds me of the film, "Meatballs," which you youngs should see if you have no idea what I'm talking about. Anyway, overnight, someone untied a $40 million yacht owned by the family of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, setting it adrift. It was 6 a.m. before the captain and crew realized it had been unmoored from its Huron, Ohio, boat slip, and by that time, it had incurred minimal damage (estimated $5,000-$10,000) from banging back into the dock. The Seaquest is apparently one of 10 boats owned by the DeVos family.

Dress Like the Duchess of Sussex:
Today at a polo match in England, Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, wore a Carolina Herrera denim dress from the designer's Resort 2019 collection -- so new it's not yet widely available in stores and sold out (at $2,190) in pre-order on Moda Operandi. But, a glimmer of outfit good news, the J.Crew rattan clutch the Duchess is carrying is still available at last check, and it's on sale here for $60.
