What the White House Press Corps is Talking About:
The Mark Leibovich feature in the New York Times profiling the White House press shop, with a particular focus on Hogan Gidley. It's titled "The Risky Business of Speaking for President Trump," and while the overarching story asks whether speaking on behalf of this President is beneficial -- or harmful -- in the longterm, Leibovich drops in lots of color when discussing Gidley. There's also important insight into how the West Wing comms office offers up its information, and how it feels about the media (re: fake news). President's Lawyers Want to Narrow Focus:
Trump's lawyers want to control the topics, or at least try to control the topics, that special counsel Robert Mueller intends to ask the President if and when he is interviewed. They only want Mueller and his team to focus on events prior to Trump taking office.
So North Korea Might Not be Happening Now:
Trump made it clear yesterday that the Singapore summit with Kim Jong Un might not happen. "There's a very substantial chance that it won't work out," Trump said in the Oval Office, seated next to South Korean President Moon Jae-in. "That doesn't mean that it won't work out over a period of time, but it may not work out for June 12."
We Could Kinda See This Coming, Right?:
Former chief White House photographer Pete Souza this morning announced he has a second book coming out, titled, "SHADE: A Tale of Two Presidents." Souza has of course gained internet fame since Trump became president by posting pics on his Instagram page that depict Barack Obama handling similar situations as Trump is handling, but in a very different way. In other words, Souza has become a master at throwing shade. Souza says his thoughts about Trump aren't politically motivated by partisanship, it's just that he's a "concerned" American citizen. But here's how he justifies his impetus to create the book: "Like many of you, I have been distressed by the barrage of lies and hateful comments emanating from the current administration on a daily basis. We have a president who clearly does not understand democracy and the rule of law. To him, a critical news story is fake news, and our intelligence agencies are all corrupt. His presidency has become a reality game show, with his primal need to achieve ratings and wins–for himself. He does not respect women, minorities and immigrants."

The former Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, made her debut as a married woman yesterday in England at a birthday garden party for Prince Charles. She did so wearing the blush pink "Flavia" dress by British label Goat, shoes by Tamara Mellon and saucer hat by milliner Philip Treacy. Poll of the Day:
America's getting gayer. A Gallup poll out today found the percentage of American adults who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender has risen every year since they began tracking in 2012 and now stands at 4.5%. Dems in Georgia Just Nominated the First Major-Party Black Woman Gubernatorial Candidate›:
Stacey Abrams, the Georgia House minority leader and romance novelist, won the Dem primary last night for governor. She'll face the winner of the Repubs' June runoff, and should she win, she would be the first African-American female governor in the United States. Georgia hasn't elected a Dem to a major statewide office since 2006, but Abrams told CNN this morning she thinks she can win. "I think that we are a blue state," she said. Twitter is Rolling Out Candidate Labels:
They give blue checkmarks out to anyone these days. But not everyone will be able to get Twitter's new candidate label. The company announced today that some candidates for governor, the US House and the US Senate will begin to receive "candidate labels" that show a government building icon alongside the candidates' state and the office for which they're running. | | Credit: Twitter
The Royal Wedding Bishop is Protesting Outside the White House Tomorrow:
Michael Curry, the Episcopal African-American bishop who spoke about love and quoted MLK at the royal wedding, will be at a vigil and protest outside the White House Thursday. "This weekend I spoke about the way of love. As elders, we view bringing the Reclaiming Jesus declaration to the public square as a tangible example of how to live out that way of love," he said.
Trump is a Tomi Fan:
Trump tweeted his support for Tomi Lahren this morning, calling her "truly outstanding" and a "respected young woman." The tweet came after she talked about getting a drink thrown at her while at brunch in Minneapolis on "Fox & Friends." Kathy Griffin came to Lahren's defense.
